The Difference Between Hair Gelle And Soufflé And How To Use Them?

Not sure which Fro Babies styling product to use? Not to worry as this quick guide talks you through how to use both of our stylers. You may only use one styler for your little one, but if you like to mix up their hairstyles you may use both our Gelle and our Soufflé.

Who Is Fro Babies Hair?

Let’s first begin with what makes our brand unique. Fro Babies hair was founded by Kanika Alston in 2016. Kanika is a seasoned educator, and her hair care journey began organically. With a strong desire to shift the often negative perception of multicultural children portrayed in the media, she created #frobabies. Her social media page became an uplifting place for kids with natural curls to feel as one. The social media page led to creating the Fro Babies haircare line to fill a much-needed gap in the market. While there are outstanding natural hair products designed for adults, there were few that addressed the unique needs of curly kids.

Our products are made with love to empower children to embrace their natural beauty!

Is Fro Babies Hair Right For?

It’s for every curly haired cutie out there! Natural curls can’t handle the alcohol, parabens, sulfates, and mineral oils in standard hair care products—which is why our line doesn’t contain any of them.

Instead, we turn to natural ingredients like avocado and honey. Our products empower you to shampoo, condition, and style your child’s hair without worry that our products are damaging their hair in any way. It’s the ideal line for curly kids of every ethnicity, including biracial kids and kids with 4C hair.

The only exception is children under the age of 12 months old. Under the age of 12 months old, we suggest using an infant safe hair and body wash and a tiny bit of coconut oil to hydrate and style their hair.

How To Use Puffy Hold Me Down Gelle?

We named it Puffy Hold Me Down Gelle, not “gel” because, unlike most gels, it dries soft and doesn’t flake! It eliminates frizz and provides superior hold. This multipurpose product can be used to:

  • Slick back hair for ponytails and up-dos
  • Create twists on all textures of curls
  • Shape, style, and define curls
  • Shape style, and define waves

Directions: Apply a liberal amount of Gelle to their hair starting at their hairline, then smooth, brush or comb toward your desired style. It can also be used to shape and style edges and baby hair.

How To Use Curls-A-Poppin Soufflé?

Curls-A-Poppin Soufflé is a creamy and magical curling cream. It leaves hair frizz-free and with a natural shine. This multipurpose product can be used to:

  • Shape, style, and define curls
  • Shape style, and define twists
  • Shape, style, and define coils
  • Slick back hair for ponytails and up-dos
  • Reduce shrinkage for some styling techniques

Directions: Use your fingers to apply to one section of hair at a time. Distribute onto and through each section to shape and form curls. The smaller the sections, the more curl definition. It can also be used to shape and style edges and baby hair. To refresh curls, spray on Detangle Me Baby Leave-in Conditioner.

A Quick Guide To Our Shampoo And Conditioners

Now that you know what stylers to use, let’s take a quick look at our full product line.

Honey Bubbles Moisturizing Shampoo

Most shampoos use sulfate to create a lather, but not Fro babies! Our Curly Kids Shampoo gently cleanses your little one’s hair without stripping it of its natural moisture. In fact, it will moisturize their hair while it cleanses.

Curly hair is prone to tangles, so it is formulated with natural oils that will soften their hair and help with the detangling process.

Simply separate their hair and massage it in from root to tip. If your little one has the patience, rinse and repeat.

Although moisturizing, you’ll still need to follow up with one of our conditioners.

So Super Soft After Shampoo Conditioner

Use our Curly Kids Conditioner after you shampoo your child’s hair as a rinse-out conditioner or leave it in for 15 minutes or so as a deep conditioner. You can also use it to co-wash when your child’s hair needs to be cleansed, but it’s too soon to shampoo.

If the tangles didn’t work themselves out with the shampoo, this conditioner will help you to easily break up the tangles without damaging their hair. With consistent use, the natural nutrients and moisturizers will strengthen their hair and make it more manageable and more resistant to formulating tangles.

After shampooing with our shampoo, apply a small amount of conditioner to slightly towel-dried hair, one section at a time. Distribute throughout each section from root to tip. Comb through hair with your fingers or a curly kids comb to detangle. Let sit for 5 minutes then rinse. If co-washing rinse and repeat and apply once more.

Detangle Me Baby Leave-In Conditioner

Our Curly Kids Leave-In Conditioner can be used daily, for as-needed detangling, or for little ones who are too wiggly to sit still for a rinse-out conditioner. It will soften, moisturize, and make their hair easier to comb. With consistent use it will strengthen their strands, making their hair more resistant to breakage.

This leave-in can be used on wet or dry hair, daily or as needed. Apply a small amount from root to tip to one section of hair at a time. Use your fingers or a curly kids comb to evenly distribute. If your child has tangles or mini mats, apply to the tangled section of hair from root to tip and gently massage it in. Depending on the severity of the tangle, start gently combing from bottom to top with the pointy end of a rat tail comb or with a curly kids comb.

Hello Tracey,

We suggest that you speak with your physician before putting any product in your infant hair. At this age, their hair and scalp is sensitive.
